FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Regional Leaders Celebrate Economic Growth, New BRBC Branding, and the 2017 Regional IMPACT Award Winners at the Bridgeport Regional Business Council’s 143rd Annual Meeting

BRIDGEPORT, June 12, 2017 – Nearly 300 business and community leaders will gather on June 15, 2017, 12:00 noon at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn & Conference Center for the Bridgeport Regional Business Council’s 143rd Annual Meeting & Luncheon. The event, sponsored by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Bank of America, and People’s United Bank is a celebration and showcase of both regional economic development and the businesses and individuals who have had a positive impact on the Greater Bridgeport Region.

The event’s featured speaker, Edward Beyer, Vice President, Sikorsky Integration will add to the day’s economic and business development focus. And, the afternoon’s celebrations will include a look at the BRBC’s latest print edition of its quarterly review of the economic development projects, The QR.  The June edition of The QR features 40 important regional economic development projects.  Also appearing in the Fairfield County Business Journal later this month and online at www.brbc.org, the June edition of The QR offers an added look at the significant contribution that Sikorsky Aircraft delivers to the economic wellbeing of the Greater Bridgeport Region.

Additionally, the BRBC will showcase a new logo design created by University of Bridgeport student Nicolas Mancheno.  The BRBC and the University’s Mass Communication Class worked collaboratively over the spring 2017 semester to create a complete marketing and public relations program for the BRBC. Every semester, UB Professor and media production expert, Susan Katz selects a Greater Bridgeport area nonprofit organization for her student-led agency to create a unique campaign, tailored directly to the needs of the association.

“The BRBC was delighted to have the opportunity to work with this exceptional group of students. We loved the work that the students did for us. So much so that we have brought our student graphic designer in to work with member companies, People’s United Bank and Bob Abbate Marketing, to fine-tune his design. Further to a new look, several journalism students will be joining us as interns to assist with future public relations and social media initiatives”, said Jocelyn Paoletta, Director of Communications for the BRBC.

“UB students took to heart our desire to create a new look for the BRBC. A transformative look was, in particular, one of my directives. And, by golly, our young graphic designer transformed our brand mark with the support of the People’s United Bank Brand Marketing team and the Bob Abbate Marketing team. Armando Goncalves, Market President for People’s United Bank and BRBC Board Chair and Bob Abbate, BRBC Board member offered an invaluable service to the project. I’m really proud of those kids and our member companies for the collaborative effort”, beamed Mickey Herbert, BRBC President & CEO.
