BRBC and CBIA Legislative Wrap Up
More than 80 business and community leaders participated in a Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA), and Housatonic Community College hosted panel discussion and networking event with Connecticut legislators following the close of the 2019 legislative and budget session.
Legislator panelists in attendance included: State Senator Dennis Bradley; State Representative Laura Devlin; State Representative Joe Gresko; State Senator Tony Hwang; State Representative Ben McGorty; State Representative Steven Stafstrom; State Representative David Rutigliano; and State Representative Cristin McCarthy Vahey.
The event, sponsored by AT&T and Cohen & Wolf P.C., was well received and sparked lively discussion about the many and varied results of the session as well as policies still to be addressed in special session. Discussion centered around tolls, the looming teacher and state employee pension crisis, new taxes going into effect, changes to home health care regulations, and work force development-preparation and advanced manufacturing.
Here are links to CBIA reports on many of the issues covered and more.
The BRBC encourages all members to invest time in reviewing all the links as these are the critical issues facing the business community in the state and the region.
