LEADERSHIP GREATER BRIDGEPORT 2020-2021
MISSION AND WORK:

The collective goal of Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC) Program Affiliates is to advance the BRBC mission to grow the regional economy by offering leadership and professional development programs designed to support local businesses in attracting and retaining a skilled and engaged workforce.

An affiliate program of the BRBC, Leadership Greater Bridgeport (LGB) is a nine-month experiential leadership program designed to develop and elevate community leaders. This year marks the 32nd class of Leadership Greater Bridgeport, a program that began in 1990 and has over 800 alumni. Each year, a cohort of leaders and rising stars who live and/or work in the Greater Bridgeport Region convene to create a lasting network of contacts, to learn about the challenges and opportunities in the region and to give back to the community through a meaningful group project. The cohorts are comprised of a diverse group of individuals from large corporations, small businesses, nonprofits, government entities and entrepreneurial ventures.

WHY LEADERSHIP GREATER BRIDGEPORT?

No other program offers the deep dive into regional issues, access to community leaders and networking opportunities with other ambitious individuals in the Greater Bridgeport area. Candidates for LGB are interested in investing in themselves, their organizations, and their communities.

WHO PARTICIPATES?

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:

Participants this year have the extraordinary opportunity to participate in LGB with fewer time constraints. The program will be fully virtual to ensure the safety of all participants, but the same quality content will be delivered to you in the comfort of your home, office, or favorite socially distanced coffee shop.

LGB Class 32 participants will meet twice a month for hour-long Zoom discussions with their cohort and community leaders. They will watch prerecorded presentations from these regional leaders in advance of these exclusive discussions. This will enable participants to acquire an acute awareness of community issues and challenges. The program sessions provide an in-depth look at the following:

Participants will also hone their leadership skills through a community service project to support a local nonprofit. Candidates choose their desired project and work in teams toward its successful completion over the course of the program.
